Strong First Half Powers Warriors to First Victory of the Season

Graceville, FL – The Webber International Men's Basketball team used a blistering first half to run past Baptist University of Florida, 101–88, on Saturday afternoon in Graceville, Fla. The Warriors exploded for 55 points before the break and led by as many as 31 in the opening period, turning defense into offense and raining in threes to seize control early.

Webber's balance and efficiency on offense headlined the day. The Warriors shot 50.6 percent from the floor (40-for-79) and 44.4 percent from three (12-for-27), piling up 42 points in the paint and 29 points off 20 Baptist turnovers. The bench was huge, contributing 50 points as Webber rolled into triple digits and carried a 55–32 advantage into halftime before withstanding a higher-scoring second half from the hosts.

Individually, Landon Tillman led the way with 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting, adding five rebounds, four assists, and three steals in just 22 minutes. Sharpshooter Nirobi Peeler Jr. knocked down five threes on his way to 15 points, while Mikel Forrest provided an ultra-efficient spark with 12 points on a perfect 5-for-5 from the field (2-for-2 from three). Thomas Morgan chipped in 10 points, three rebounds, and two blocks, and Deon Brown added nine points, four boards, and three assists as part of Webber's deep rotation.

Webber also dominated the glass with a 43–34 rebounding edge, including 14 offensive rebounds, and shared the ball to the tune of 25 assists on 40 made field goals. Baptist finished at 43.1 percent shooting and 33.3 percent from deep, led by Omari Henry's 24 points, a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double from Thomas Curlee, and 16 points and eight assists from CJ McKinley, but the early Warrior surge proved too much to overcome as Webber closed out the road win.
