Warriors Take Down Conquistadors Behind Patterson's Triple Double

Hialeah, FL – Webber International Women's Basketball rode a dominant effort in the paint and a monster night from Camryn Patterson to an 86–75 road win at Florida National on Tuesday evening. The Warriors improved to 3–4 on the season while handing the Conquistadors their fourth loss.

Florida National came out hot from the perimeter, using early threes from Kaylee Llanos and steady scoring from Maria De Gracia and Jaylyn Laguna to grab a 23–21 lead after the first quarter. Webber settled in during the second frame, tightening its defense and turning stops into transition chances. The Warriors outscored FNU 23–14 in the period, pounding the ball inside and attacking the glass to take a 44–37 advantage into the locker room.

The Warriors blew the game open in the third quarter behind relentless interior play. Webber outscored Florida National 26–24 in the frame, building a lead that swelled to as many as 14 points while continuing to control the paint and the boards. Even as Laguna and De Gracia kept FNU within striking distance, Webber's balance and execution on both ends helped the Warriors carry a 70–61 margin into the fourth. The Conquistadors tried to mount a late push, but Webber answered every run and closed out the 11-point victory with a 16–14 edge in the final period.

Patterson put together a standout all-around performance, finishing with 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting to go with 19 rebounds, 10 assists and four steals for a triple-double that anchored the Warriors on both ends. Isabel Negron was highly efficient inside with 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting, while Adaya Montalvo added 15 points on 7-of-11 from the floor. Sophya Barreiro chipped in 12 points, five assists and four rebounds, and Janaina Goncalves contributed 10 points, six assists, three steals and a block. Zaree Nichols supplied eight points off the bench, and Jaiden Ross added seven points and five rebounds before fouling out.

As a team, Webber shot 49.4 percent from the field and dominated the glass with a 49–24 rebounding advantage, including 25 offensive boards that fueled an 18–11 edge in second-chance points. The Warriors owned the interior with a 58–28 margin in points in the paint and turned 16 FNU turnovers into 24 points, also winning the fast-break battle 22–14. Despite Florida National shooting 50.9 percent from the floor and 39.1 percent from three behind 20 points apiece from Laguna and De Gracia and 18 from Llanos, Webber's depth, balance and control of the paint proved to be the difference.
