Warriors Honor Seniors Against Lions

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Women's Soccer team honored 12 seniors against the Florida Memorial Lions on Wednesday Morning in Babson Park. The Warriors dominated possession against the Lions, but a late penalty for the Lions put the Warriors at a disadvantage that they couldn't overcome, falling 2-1 in SUN Conference action.

The Lions struck first in the 7th minute through Jada Samuels, but the Warriors answered quickly as Melissa Del Valle buried an equalizer in the 14th minute off a square ball from Morgan Myers. After a back-and-forth second half, FMU reclaimed the lead on a 75th-minute penalty converted by Isabella Landin and held on down the stretch.

Despite the result, Webber generated the better chances, outshooting FMU 14–9 and putting 10 shots on frame. Samantha Chitu was a constant threat with five attempts (four on target), while Myers peppered the keeper with four shots (three on frame) and tallied the assist on Del Valle's goal. The Warriors rattled the woodwork late in the first half when Ariana Suarez smashed a shot off the post in the 44th minute, and they forced nine saves from FMU goalkeeper Isabella Rueda overall.

Set pieces gave Webber momentum—corners to Olof Sigurdardottir (50') and Suarez (54', 58') led to dangerous looks, including a Chitu header that required a diving stop. Defensively, Webber limited FMU to just three shots on goal; keeper Francesca Magnotti recorded one save, with the other two FMU shots on target resulting in goals (one from the spot). Yellow cards to Pia Grosse (79') and Maeva Bachmann (86') punctuated a physical finish.
