Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Men's Basketball team faced a tough SUN opponent in Florida Memorial, falling 74-55 in a physical contest. Despite strong performances from Gabriel Sorensen and Khalyl Simmons, the Warriors struggled offensively against a balanced and efficient Lions squad.
The first half was tightly contested, with Webber shooting 32% from the field and Florida Memorial countering with 35.5%. Sorensen paced the Warriors with 10 points in the half, including a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line, while Simmons knocked down three three-pointers. Florida Memorial's Terrin Hamilton responded with 11 points, helping the Lions edge ahead 27-24 at halftime.
In the second half, Florida Memorial found their rhythm, shooting an impressive 60% from the field and dominating the paint with 44 points in total. Hamilton continued to lead the way, finishing with 16 points on 5-of-12 shooting, while Mohamad Diallo added 15 points and 4 rebounds. The Lions' bench contributed 26 points, including a strong showing from Felix Uadiale, who scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Webber struggled to keep pace, particularly from beyond the arc, shooting just 12.5% from three-point range in the second half. Simmons finished with 13 points, while Orlando Thomas had 9 points and 11 rebounds. Sorensen added a team-high 14 points, converting all eight of his free-throw attempts.
Florida Memorial's defense forced 25 turnovers, converting them into 17 points, and their rebounding advantage (36-29) allowed them to control the tempo in the second half. The Lions' largest lead of the game, 24 points, came in the final moments, sealing their victory.
