Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Women's Basketball team faced a tough challenge against SUN foe College of Coastal Georgia, falling 88-64 in a game dominated by the Mariners' rebounding and efficient scoring. Despite a spirited third-quarter rally, the Warriors couldn't recover from a slow start.
In the first quarter, Webber struggled offensively, shooting 27.8% from the field and going 0-for-3 from three-point range, while Coastal Georgia built an early lead behind Morgon Webb, who scored 9 of her game-high 24 points in the opening period. Coastal Georgia capitalized on offensive rebounds, securing 6 second-chance points to take a 20-10 lead.
The second quarter saw Coastal Georgia extend their lead, shooting 61.1% from the field. Tyler Butler and Jasmin Worsley dominated the boards, combining for 15 rebounds in the first half. Webber continued to struggle from deep, going 1-for-6 from beyond the arc, and trailed 42-24 at halftime.
Webber came out strong in the third quarter, shooting 58.8% from the field. J Curry scored 10 of her 17 points in the period, and Neri Moreau added 8 points to help the Warriors cut into the deficit. However, Coastal Georgia's bench contributed 14 points in the quarter, maintaining their advantage at 68-51.
In the fourth quarter, Coastal Georgia sealed the win with a balanced offensive effort, shooting 43.8% and hitting key free throws. Ali Stone and Peyton Shafer provided energy off the bench, finishing with 14 points each, as the Mariners closed out the game strong.
Key contributors for Webber included Curry and Moreau with 17 points each, while Ross added 16 points and 4 rebounds. Coastal Georgia's rebounding dominance (62-32) and efficient free-throw shooting (64.3%) were instrumental in their victory.
