Warriors Hold Royals in Check in Babson Park

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Women's soccer team welcomed their Crooked Lake Rival Warner University on Saturday afternoon in Babson Park. Following a well fought battle on Wednesday afternoon, the Warriors put on their best performance of the 2024 season, shutting out the Warner Royals and delivering their win of the season with a 1-0 victory on their home grass.

The Warriors and Royals squared off with this being their first of two meetings of the season. The home Warrior squad would record the first two shots of the game from Samantha Chitu, the goal scorer from Wednesday's match, making the Royals keeper make a save and shooting the other attempt wide. The Warriors would take 24 shots total on the day, 12 in the first half and 12 in the second respectively with 16 of those shots being on target. Chitu would take seven of those shots with Yerika Pereira and Thea Roque each taking three shots each as well. The Warriors would take the first nine shots of the game until the Royals got a shot off in the 27th minute that went wide and did not challenge Juliana Grider, the Warriors keeper. The first half would be riddled with physical play as the Royals committed seven fouls to the Warriors six, but the lone yellow card of the day would not come until the second half of action. As the first half came to a close, the score remained tied with the Warriors controlling all facets of the game but not having the lead just yet.

The second half started just as the first with the Warriors dominating on the offensive side of the field and recording five quick shots at goal in the first five minutes of action. The Warriors pushed their offensive attack forward and finally came through with the deciding goal in the 56th minute from Melissa Del Valle. Del Valle, scoring her first goal of the season would give the

Warriors the advantage they were looking for and allow to them play a defensive and comfortable second half with the lead. The Royals attempted to strike back rather quickly just three minutes later with a shot from Clarissa Chew, but a defensive save from Makenzee Feskanin blocked the Royals attack. Ariana Suarez would pick up the lone wild card of the day less than a minute later keeping the Warriors lead intact with a strong defensive effort. The Warriors kept the pressure up throughout the second half recording another seven shots after the goal from De Valle, and only allowing the Royals to take two shots with only one requiring a save from Grider. As the 90th minute horn sounded, the Warriors would take the 1-0 victory against the rivaled Royals and celebrate the first of many victories of the 2024 campaign.

After the game, Head Coach Jack Paris was proud of his team.
"The girls executed the game plan very well today. The group is really starting to become cohesive on the field"

The Warriors will hit the road less traveled up north to Savannah, Georgia next Wednesday afternoon to take on the SCAD-Savannah Bees at 7 PM.
