Warriors Honor Seniors Against Ave Maria

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Women's Lacrosse team hosted the Ave Maria Gyrenes on the Warrior Turf Field. Webber honored eight seniors on Senior Day, but fell to Ave Maria 18-11.

Sophia Sesi got the scoring started for the Warriors, scoring just a minute and a half into the game. The Gyrenes scored soon after to tie it and then take the lead , but Maria Horrell would score next to tie it up. Kaitlyn Patterson scored a man-up goal from the free position, but Ave Maria scored to tie it at 3-3 heading into the second quarter.

Jordyn Davidson made two quick saves back-to-back and Asiah Dewberry would cause a turnover soon after. The Gyrenes were able to score four straight goals throughout the second quarter before Cheyenne Burton rattled a goal off with a minute left in the half. Burton's goal put the score at 7-4 heading into the half.

Ave Maria scored first in the third quarter, but that goal was quickly negated by Patterson. Patterson scored again a few minutes later, again matching a Gyrenes goal. Michaela Haas found the back of the net with 1:10 left in the third, making it 10-7 heading into the fourth quarter.

Ayame Macedo scored early in the fourth, putting the Warriors within two points. Ave Maria proceeded to score seven straight goals, although both Davidson and Hannah Register would make saves during this run. Hailey Leavines broke the drought for the Warriors on a free position goal, before Burton found the net for the second time. A buzzer beating blitz to the goal by Natalie Baumgarten would end the scoring for the Warriors as they fell 18-11.

Patterson led the team with three points, while Burton and Haas each had two. Dewberry and Reyanna Troupe led with three ground balls apiece, while Sesi, Alia Loydd, and Davidson each had two.
