West Palm Beach, FL – The No. 4 Warriors headed down to take on the Seahawks of Keiser for another weekend of Sun Conference play. Webber took game one 12-15, while KU rallied in game two to even the series with one game apiece.
Blayne Huter notched his fifth win of the season after pitching six innings and only allowed three runs on four hits. Hunter Youngblood came in for relief in the 7th inning, where he kept the Seahawks from scoring. Thomas Nelson took his place in the 8th inning where he allowed two more runs to come across. Brighton Taylor closed the game with three straight outs to secure the win.
Tyren Milliner had another incredible game as he went 4-for-3 with a walk, three runs, and two RBIs. Gabriel Cruz added three hits and two runs for the Warriors. Joseph Becker notched a two-run homerun to give the Warriors a cushion lead going into the bottom of the 6th inning.
Brodey Neveker got the first hit in the game as he singled through the left side in the top of the 2nd. A fielder's choice and a single put two on with one out before the Seahawks got the final two outs. Huter was able to keep KU from scoring as the Warriors went back on offense tied at zero.
Richard Rodriguez singled through the left side to lead off the 3rd inning. Camren Carroll took a hit by pitch to put two aboard. A sac bunt for Ian Kalman moved runners into scoring position, before a two-out single for Milliner scored two before KU got the final out. The Seahawks responded with two runs of their own to even the score going into the top of the 4th inning.
After two scoreless innings, Milliner singled to left center to start a 6th inning rally, as he also stole second base. Bryan Morales singled to right field, scoring Milliner and giving the Warriors a one-run lead. An error allowed Cruz aboard and Morales to score. A two-run shot to the moon put the Warriors ahead four going into the bottom of the 6th. KU was able to score another run and cut the deficit to three.
A walk and hit-by-pitch set Cruz up for a two-out RBI single to keep the Warriors in front. Hunter Youngblood managed three outs to keep the Seahawks from scoring in the bottom of the 7th inning.
KU added two runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to keep the game within two runs. A single and steal for Ryan Recio put a runner in scoring position with no outs. Milliner singled to right field as an error allowed him on second base. Drew Stubbs got a chance for a pinch hit, where he was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs. Cruz took a hit-by-pitch for an RBI as the Warriors lead grew to four. Becker doubled down the right field line allowing two more runs to come across. R. Rodriguez with a one-out single to center field extended the lead to seven going into the bottom of the 9th inning. Three batters were all Brighton Taylor needed to close the door on game one, with a 12-5 win for the Warriors.
Brayden Matthews got the start in game two. Gabriel Dorsey, Manuel Meilan, and Gage Allen all came in for relief, pitching an inning apiece.
Ian Kalman led offensively for the Warriors as he went 2-for-4 with two runs. Brodey Neveker and Ryan Recio also added runs for the Warriors.
Webber struck first in game two, scoring one in the top of the first off a fielding error by the KU shortstop. The Seahawks responded with four runs in the bottom of the first to take an early lead.
Richard Rodriguez singled down the right field line in the top of the second inning to cut the deficit to two. Keiser brought in seven runs in the bottom of the third inning to make it 11-2.
An error in the top of the fifth inning allowed Neveker aboard and two to score for the Warriors to cut the KU lead to seven. The Seahawks added two in the bottom of the fifth and two in the bottom of the sixth to grab an 11-run lead. The Warriors were unable to respond as KU took game two in seven innings.
Webber will be back in the morning for two more games against the Keiser Seahawks, first pitch is set for 10 am.
