Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Women's Lacrosse team hosted their cross-town rivals Warner University for their Morgan's Message game on Saturday afternoon. After being down early, the Warriors exploded offensively, taking down the Royals 20-6.
Webber would be down first after a goal from the Royals, but Bryce Gerber would soon tie it up with the Warriors first goal. Courtnie Couch would score next to give Webber its first lead. The Royals would score two straight to retake the lead. Gerber and Hailey Leavines scored back-to-back to make it 4-3 Webber. The Royals were able to tie it again but that would be the closest they were for the rest of the game. Sara Breiterman, Reliza Ann Fitzpatrick, and Ayame Macedo would each score to make it 7-4 heading into the second quarter.
After a goal from the Royals, Gerber would score three straight goals to make it 10-5 Webber. Natalie Baumgarten would score on a man-up opportunity to give the Warriors an 11-5 lead headed into halftime,
Warner would score their final goal of the game at the beginning of the third quarter. Kaitlyn Patterson and Baumgarten each scored man-up goals to give the Warriors a 13-6 lead. Macedo, Leavines and Gerber would net the next three goals, before Macedo would get another one towards the end of the quarter. After three, Webber led 17-6.
Couch would score again at the top of the fourth quarter. Webber would get on the board two more times, with both of them being scored by Gerber. The Warriors would end the game taking down the Royals 20-6.
Gerber led the team with 10 points, off of eight goals and two assists. Leavines had four points on two assists and two goals. Macedo had three points on three goals. Macedo led the team with four ground balls, while Reyanna Troupe led with four caused turnovers.
The Warriors will be back in action on Monday, March 18th when they host the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy on the Warrior Turf Field.
