Warriors Score 10 runs as They Split the Doubleheader with NightHawks

Babson Park, FL- The 12th ranked Warriors split day two of the series against former Sun Conference foe, Thomas, this evening. Webber dropped game one 2-1 but battled through game two to win 10-3.  

Game one 

Dylan Martin got the start for the Warriors, pitching five innings and adds seven strikeouts to the season. Brayden Matthews came in to relieve as he pitched the remaining two scoreless innings and picked up two more strikeouts to add to his resume. Ian Kalman and Camren Carroll led the offense for the Warriors as they went 2-3 and scored an RBI respectively. Six other Warriors grabbed hits but were unable to convert into runs. 

 The game started with a quick scoreless first inning. The NightHawks got on the board with a homerun in the top of the second inning. Camren Carroll grabbed the lone RBI as he brought in Brodey Neveker to tie the game at the bottom of the fourth.  

The NightHawks grabbed another run at the top of the fifth before two scoreless innings ended game one of the series.  

Game two 

Jonathan Bautista got his second start of the season and pitched 4.2 innings and struck out three batters. Brighton Taylor came in as a reliever pitched 2.1 scoreless innings and grabbed two strikeouts. Gage Allen and Thomas Nelson pitched an inning apiece and combined for a strikeout.  

10 runs were scored on 11 hits for the Warriors to finish the series 1-2.  

A quick three-and-out put the Warriors on offense. Deven Tedders hit his first pitch for a quick base hit. Camren Campbell was then hit by a pitch, to put two runners on. A Joe Becker ground out allowed Tedders to score, making it 1-0 for the Warriors. TU grabbed two more outs to keep the deficit at one.  

Bautista had another successful inning as he had no hits or runs scored against him. The Warriors responded with a quick Gabriel Cruz one-out-single. Josh Blackmore grabbed a base hit to put two runners on. A Tedders double, coupled with an error allowed both runners to score before TU grabbed the last two outs. 

The NightHawks grabbed a single run before the Warriors were back on offense. Webber got two on base in the bottom of the third before a Jarrett May three-run homerun made it a five-run lead for the Warriors. Cruz and Blackmore both grabbed another base. An error by the NightHawks allowed Richard Rodriguez on base, and Cruz to score. Singles from Carrell and Becker brought in the final two runs for the Warriors.  

Bautista pitched another inning and a third as the NightHawks grabbed two more runs on two hits. The final three innings were scoreless as May caught the last out to ensure the win for the Warriors.  

Webber will be back to action next Friday, February 16th as they are set to host Mount Mercy, first pitch is set for 6:00 pm.
