Warriors Fall to Red Raiders at Home

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International men's basketball team fought hard but came up short against Northwestern College (Iowa), falling 73-59 on Wednesday evening. Despite strong performances from key players, the Warriors struggled to overcome Northwestern's efficiency and balanced attack.

The first half saw Northwestern come out firing, shooting 50% from the field and an impressive 54.5% from three-point range, building an early lead. Alex Van Kalsbeek led the charge, scoring 14 first-half points, while Jesse Van Kalsbeek added 10 points. Webber relied on Orlando Thomas, who scored 11 of his game-high 19 points in the first half, but the Warriors trailed 44-26 at halftime.

In the second half, the Warriors ramped up their defensive intensity, holding Northwestern to 0-for-8 from beyond the arc. Webber also capitalized at the free-throw line, shooting 88.9% in the half. However, Northwestern's dominance in the paint, where they scored 42 points, and their ability to limit turnovers, kept Webber from closing the gap.

Thomas was the standout for Webber, finishing with 19 points, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Khalyl Simmons contributed 12 points, including two three-pointers, while Montreal McCullough added another 12 points. On the boards, Jordan Golden grabbed 10 rebounds, providing a solid presence in the paint.

For Northwestern, Alex Van Kalsbeek was unstoppable, leading all scorers with 22 points and 7 rebounds. His brother, Jesse Van Kalsbeek, chipped in 16 points, and Zach LaFave added 12 points and 6 rebounds to round out a balanced offensive attack.

The Warriors will look to regroup and improve their execution as they prepare for their next game. Stay updated on all Warrior athletics by visiting www.webberathletics.com and following @WebberAthletics on Twitter and @Webber_Athletics on Instagram.
