Warriors Wear Down Conquistadors behind Thomas' 24 Points

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Men's Basketball team hosted the Florida National Conquistadors at Jessica Costanzo Court on Thursday evening. The Warriors went into the half down by four, but surged in the second half, taking down the Conquistadors 65-60 to end a three-game skid.

Jordan Golden got the Warriors started with a layup. Webber would get down early, but four straight points from Orlando Thomas dropped the Warrior deficit to three, 14-11. Jovon Rosse and Thomas each made two free throws, to give Webber an 18-17 lead. Florida National quickly regained the lead, but Khalyl Simmons and Amir Benelbasry both scored as well, keeping the game close, 26-21. Montreal McCullough, Thomas, and Benelbasry scored the final points in the half for Webber, as the Warriors found themselves down 32-28 at the break.

Zachary O'Callaghan started the scoring in the second half with a layup. Thomas then scored six straight points to give the Warriors the lead once again at 36-35. O'Callaghan and Golden helped extend the lead before two free throws from McCullough made it 44-35. Scores from Simmons, Thomas, and Rosse helped keep the Warriors ahead, 52-45. Golden and Simmons made it 59-49, before Thomas ended the game scoring six straight to give the Warriors the victory over the Conquistadors.

Thomas led the team with 24 points, to go along with six rebounds and two steals, while it also going 14-16 from the charity stripe. Golden was the second leading scorer with 10 points, finishing one rebound shy of a double-double, adding one assist and one steal.

The Warriors will have a short break before their next game, when they welcome Shawnee State to Jessica Costanzo Court on December 17th.
