Lakeland, FL – The Webber International Men's Soccer team squared off in their final regular season SUN Conference match against the Southeastern Fire over in Lakeland, FL on Saturday evening. The Warriors followed up a scoreless draw against the Gyrenes last Wednesday with another scoreless draw result against the Fire 0-0.
The Warriors found themselves in another defensive battle on Saturday evening, this time with the Southeastern Fire. 15 combined shots went towards goal in the first half, six for the Warriors and nine for the Fire, but none found the back of the net. Ben Parkinson would record three first half saves, while the Warriors forced the Fire keeper to record five of his own. Three yellow cards were handed out in the first half, with five more to come in the second half, and the physicality of the match played into the offensive struggle that both sides found themselves in. The Fire would apply more pressure in the second half with eight more shots at goal, but Parkison had another great half in goal with three more saves, giving him six on the day. Marco De Rosa and Jesus Perez would both earn yellow cards in the second half, but the Warriors would not be able to push across the game winning goal, and the match would result in another draw 0-0.
The Warriors will have a quick turnaround make up match on Monday, November 4th, at 3:30 PM against the Crooked Lake rivals Warner Royals in Babson Park, Florida.
