Warriors Dominate Lions in Three Sets

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Women's Volleyball team hosted SUN Conference foe Florida Memorial University for a Saturday matinee match. The Warriors took care of the Lions in three sets, dominating the first two to win 3-0.

Savanna Wilhite got the first kill for the Warriors before immediately helping Nadia Reid record a block. After an attack error to put the Warriors up 4-2, Abigail Baxter served seven straight points for the Warriors. Daphne Wibranowski picked up two kills as well as a combo block with Delanie Johnson, who also picked up a kill. Kaylee Hunt, Wibranowski, and Reid picked up the next three kills for Webber. Reid picked up another kill before serving an ace right at the Lions. Hunt, Wibranowski, Cintia Lorena, and Reid scored the final kills, with Katie White serving an ace as the Warriors took set one 25-12.

Reid and Johnson picked up the first two kills for the Warriors. Cam Bendel had a service ace of her own while Lorena and Wibranowski combined for a block. Reid, Wilhite, and Hunt each had two kills as Webber took a 17-9 lead over Florida Memorial. Baxter came up to serve once again, this time helping the Warriors get five straight points, with Wibranowski picking up a kill and a solo block. Wibranowski picked up a kill to make it 24-13, before Johnson served an ace to win it.

Reid and Hunt scored the first four points for the Warriors in set three, with three kills and another ace for Reid. Abby Leonard, Hunt, and Lorena had the next three kills, with Alanys Rodriguez serving an ace of her own, making it 8-5. The Lions took the lead and kills from Lorena and Katie White tied it at 11-11. With the Warriors down 16-11, Reid and Luci Marinella each secured kills, while Lily Arnold joined the ace party. Wibranowski and Lorena helped the Warriors retake the lead with kills at 20-19. Webber scored five of the next seven points to take the set 25-21, and the match 3-0.

Reid led the team with nine kills and two aces, bringing eight digs to the party as well. Wibranowski and Hunt each had eight kills, while Wibranowski led the team with four blocks. Marinella had 15 assists, while Rodriguez had 12. Hunt led ted the team with nine digs.

The Warriors will be back in action on Wednesday, October 30th when they host the Southeastern Fire.
