Box Score Miami Gardens, FL - The Webber International Women's Basketball team traveled to Miami Gardens Saturday afternoon to take on the St. Thomas Bobcats, although they were in it the whole game, the Warriors were unable to overcome the Bobcats, falling 78-62.
The first points for the Warriors were scored on a layup by
Kaliyah Little. Jermaisa Klopsis then hit a three-pointer off an assist from
Jaiden Ross to bring the score to 7-5 in favor of the Bobcats. Little made another layup before
Samantha Pacheco got herself on the board with a jumper.
Alisha Walker and Pacheco scored the next four for Webber, while
Janaina Goncalves hit a layup as time expired to head to the second quarter with the score 22-15 in favor of St. Thomas.
The first points of the second were secured on two free throws from Pacheco. Goncalves hit another bucket off the feed from Jermaisa Klopsis. Little made another layup with an assist from Pacheco to make the score 21-31. Goncalves would hit one more three in the half, bringing the score to 34-24 at the half.
Pacheco and Klopsis started the Warriors off right in the third quarter, as Pacheco hit a jumper and then assisted another Klopsis three. Pacheco hit another basket for the Warriors to down six, 37-31. Walker hit one of two from the free throw line, as Klopsis ripped down the offensive rebound and pushed it back out to Pacheco who hit a three. Klopsis and Walker each went 2/2 from the line to keep the deficit at 10, 49-39. These would be the last points of the third quarter as the Warriors headed to the final frame down 57-39.
Triniti Lee opened the scoring for the Warriors in fourth quarter, hitting a spin move that had the ball cycloning into the basket. A layup from Ross and a layup from Pacheco dropped the deficit to 15, 60-45. Pacheco hit a big three-pointer soon after. Out of a timeout, the Warriors got a block and quickly got it to Pacheco who again scored with a layup off the glass. Walker hit her next layup off an assist from Klopsis, before Little was sent back to the charity stripe, hitting one of two. Walker and Pacheco scored the next four for the Warriors. Klopsis got four more points to fall before
Jasmine Henry ended the scoring for the Warriors with a free throw. The final score was St. Thomas 78, Webber 62.
Pacheco was the games leading scored with 22 points. She also added five assists, four rebounds, and three steals. Klopsis had 12 points to go along with nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Walker had nine points and four rebounds off the bench.
The Warriors will be back in action on Saturday February 3rd when they host the Keiser Seahawks in the Sabbagh Center at 2 PM.
