Box Score

Babson Park, FL – After a tough fight, Webber fell to Cumberland 19-13 in overtime heartbreaker. Jaren Muse and Caden Morrell lead the defense with eight tackles apiece.

Blake Birchler started in the pocket for the Warriors and finished the day with 14 completions for 121 passing yards. Terry Weems Jr. And Jordan Giffin powered the Warriors' offense with 94 yards on the ground.

A field goal off the leg of Zachary Vanfleet allowed Webber to strike first late into the first quarter. The Phoenix responded quickly by scoring a touchdown to gain the lead in the second Quarter. An Interception by Joshua Jones levied a 43- yard field goal by Van Fleet to cut the deficit to one heading into the half.

The third quarter went scoreless as the Phoenix started the second half on offense with a 58-yard drive, before Morrell sacked Luke Holloway on fourth down, resulting in the Warriors taking over on their own 22-yard line. After a hard hit Grojtan came in for a few plays for Birchler. A one-yard rush by Jordan Griffin and six-yard catch and carry by Richard Dunbar were all that followed before Reagan Harrell sent a 36-yard punt to the Cumberland 22-yard line. The Phoenix ended the quarter on offense, before scoring a touchdown early in the fourth, extending the lead 13-6. The Warriors responded strong with a 73-yard drive, to even the score 13-13 with just six minutes left in the game.

A big fourth down tackle by Khristian Hill and Morrell gave the Warriors the ball with just over three minutes to go. After a quick three-and-out, Reagan Harrell sent a 34-yard punt to the 50-yard line. The ball touched Bret Robinson for the Phoenix before Devantae Stephens recovered it, making it Webber's ball. Harrell soon punted again for the Phoenix to finish regulation on offense. A huge stop by Hill and Morrell then sent the game into overtime. An interception by Trevor Griffin then set the Phoenix up for the last-minute touchdown to win the game.

The Warriors will be back next week as they travel north for an exhibition against NCAA DI foe Stetson University at 7:00 pm.
