Hardeeville, SC - The Webber International University men's soccer team went on the road for Sun Conference play against the SCAD-Savannah Bees. The Warriors came out of the match with a 2-0 loss, putting their record at 1-4-1 overall and 0-2 in the Sun Conference.
The Bees claimed the first shot of the match 1:41 in, hitting the crossbar. Just over a minute later, Anthony Sumoza of the Bees took another shot that went wide for a corner kick. Arnor Magnusson attempted to tie the game with a shot that was picked off by SCAD's goalkeeper. The match went back-and-forth for a little over ten minutes before Ben Parkinson saved a header shot from the Bees. This save brought momentum for the Warriors as Anthony Avila had a chance on goal that the Bee's defense blocked. About four minutes later, Sebastian Lago took another shot for the Warriors that was saved by SCAD's goalkeeper. The Bees got off three more shots before Samer Jawhari shot the ball wide. Not even a minute later Gabe Shelton took another shot for the Warriors that also went wide. Lago took the last shot of the half and the Warriors went into halftime trailing 1-0.
The first 20 minutes of the second half was relatively quiet for both teams as the Bees only had one shot before scoring the last goal of the match. With the Warriors trailing by two goals now, the offense looked to find the back of the net, taking three shots before SCAD fired their last shot of the game that was saved by Parkinson. Shelton got off one more shot before the match concluded with the Bees taking the win.
Lago and Shelton led the Warriors in shots with two a piece. Parkinson spent the entire 90 minutes in goal and tallied three saves.
