LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (April 6, 2023) – The Webber International University men's lacrosse team saw several different goal scorers in the second game of their away trip against the University of Saint Mary Spires. The Warriors (13-1 overall) have extended their win streak to six games with an outstanding result of 26-2.

Cade McCarron opened off the first quarter with a goal assisted by Jeremiah Loo just over four minutes in. Not even three minutes later, the Warriors put two more points on the board, one of which came from Jack Cross. The Spires (0-8) were held scoreless for the rest of the quarter while the Warriors put four more goals in the back of the cage. Of those four, two came from Chase Jackson and Dillon Ziemba and Blake Nelson both put up one.

Second quarter was another shutout for the Spires' offense. However, Houston Finlayson netted his first goal of the match 44 seconds in. Nick Sheaffer also scored his first goal of the game just 23 second later. The Warrior offense did not let off the breaks this quarter, putting 10 more points on the board to finish off the half with a score of 19-0. Finlayson and Sheaffer both saw hattricks this quarter, while Loo, Connor Herring, Jackson, McCarron, and Samuel Henry scored one goal each.

Herring kicked off the third quarter with a goal assisted by Nicholas Cordero 52 seconds in. Six more goals were put up on the board to extend the Warriors lead to 26-0. Philip Scopano and Sam Shields saw the back of the cage for two of those six goals. The Spires struggled to find the back of the net third quarter as they were held to zero goals again.

The final quarter of the match was quiet for the Warriors as they put no points on the board. However, the Spires netted two goals to finish the game with a score of 26-2.

Finlayson, Sheaffer, Jackson, and McCarron all saw hattricks in the match while Herring, Cross, and Loo followed behind with two goals apiece. Hunter Scott led the Warrior defense going 19-20 on faceoffs and picking up 13 ground balls. Josh Cargile also tallied in four ground balls and went 6-8 on faceoffs. Herring and Cameron Paleski led in caused turnovers with three and two respectively. Alex Cordero recorded his second shutout of the season, spending just over 37 minutes in the cage while Jack LaRussa finished off the game with two saves and two goals allowed.
