No. 6 Baseball Bounces Back with Big 14-1 Win

BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 8, 2023) – After taking both games of a doubleheader against the University of St. Francis, the Webber International University baseball team welcomed the Saints back with a dominant 14-1 win on Wednesday afternoon.

Brighton Taylor and Hunter Youngblood combined to allow just one run on five hits through seven innings for the Warriors (21-4 overall). Taylor recorded six strikeouts in his 4.0 innings pitched while Youngblood added two in 3.0. The Saints (5-13) earned their lone run on a solo shot in the fourth inning.

Webber scored three runs in the bottom of the first innings, courtesy of a two-RBI triple to left center by Luis Acevedo followed by an RBI-groundout from Bryan Morales. The Warriors added five more the following inning, extending the lead to 8-0. Tavion Williams scored on a wild pitch before Morales delivered a double to right-center which brought home two more. Angel Diaz then singled up the middle to score yet another run.

Back-to-back two-RBI singles from Richard Rodriguez and Tommy Diaz assisted in the Warriors adding five more runs in the bottom of the sixth to activate the run-rule.

Offensively, the Warriors were led by A. Diaz who was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, two RBI's and a run scored. Acevedo led the team in runs scored with three and tied for the most RBI's with three. Morales went 2-for-4 with three RBI's as well and two runs scored. R. Rodriguez finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI's and two runs scored as well.

The Warriors will now have a one-day break before beginning a three-game series against Aquinas College on Friday, March 10th at 6 p.m. They will follow that with a doubleheader for games two and three the next day at 12 and 3 p.m.
