BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 27, 2023) – The Webber International University baseball team hosted Keiser University in a Sun Conference matchup this past Friday and Saturday. All three games were decided by three runs or less as the Warriors took games one and three to win the series.

The Warriors (26-8 overall, 2-4 SUN) threw a combination of five pitchers in game one, starting with
Xavier Rodriguez on the mound who tossed 4.2 innings and allowed three earned runs on five hits and added seven strikeouts.
Thomas Lopez Jr. earned the win while
Dawson Young closed out the final inning to earn the save with three strikeouts.

Keiser (19-12, 3-3) took an early 3-1 lead after the second inning, however, Webber pulled one back in the third and broke the game open in the fourth with a six-run inning which included a two-run home run by
Bryan Morales. A big sixth inning from the Seahawks saw them retake the lead 10-8. The Warriors responded with a three-inning bottom of the sixth. Webber added an insurance run in each of the seventh and eighth innings to seal the victory.

Blayne Huter earned the start in game two, throwing 5.2 innings and allowing four runs on four hits with six strikeouts.
Eli Botelle had a solid outing, pitching the remaining 3.1 innings and allowing just one hit.

Webber posted four runs in the first inning that included RBI-singles by
Luis Acevedo and
Tommy Diaz. The Warriors added one more in the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Acevedo to extend the lead to 5-0. Keiser exploded offensively in the sixth inning with seven runs to take the lead at 7-5 and Webber was unable to regain the lead.

The offensive battle continued in game three with
Dylan Martin taking the mound. He threw 5.2 innings and allowed four runs, two of which were earned, on eight hits with seven strikeouts.
Ivan Martinez-Suarez entered the game in relief for an inning before Young closed out the final two innings to earn his second win of the season.

Tied at six heading into the eighth inning, the Warriors scored three runs thanks to a hit-by-pitch from
Drake Dobyanski followed by a two-RBI single to left field from Acevedo. The Seahawks threatened to tie the game in the top of the ninth but Young and the Warriors were able to work out of the inning to win the series.

Webber will now travel to South Florida for a three-game series against No. 18 St. Thomas University which will begin with a single Friday night game on March 31st at 6 p.m. Games two and three will be played in a doubleheader the following day at 12 and 3 p.m.
