MIAMI LAKES, Fla. (March 25, 2023) – The Webber International University men's and women's golf teams traveled to South Florida to take part in the STU Miami Invitational this past Monday and Tuesday. The men's team placed second out of five teams while the women's team had few individual competitors.
On the men's side, the Warriors (310-289-300; 899) finished round two with the second best round score of the tournament, behind only St. Thomas who placed first.
Leading the way for Webber individually was freshman
Vedant Sirohi (72-75-73; 220), finishing tied for third place overall among 35 competitors. He finished round one in first place after scoring a 72, good for an even par at Miami Lakes Golf Course. He was followed by
Harrison Hodgson (82-72-72; 226) who ended in sixth place after shooting an even par in both rounds two and three.
Three Warriors finished all back-to-back-to-back as
Clay Jacobs (79-74-75; 228) ended in a tie for eighth place followed by
Carl Rosenholm (76-77-76; 229) and
Tom Youds (81-68-80; 229) who both tied for 10th. Youds shot the second best round of the whole tournament in round two with a career-low 68.
Wrapping up the men's scoring was sophomore
Avery Hurst (75-77-81; 233) in 15th place and junior
Connor Jones (78-80-82; 240) in 24th.
Three Lady Warriors competed individually including
Katy Hill (91-94-82; 267) who finished in 12th place,
Mary Varga (103-93-102; 298) in 15th and
Bianca Perdue (107-104-100; 311) in 16th.
The men's team will not look ahead to the Monument Golf Oldfield Classic, hosted by the University of South Carolina Beaufort in Okatie, South Carolina on Monday and Tuesday, March 27-28.
