No. 3 Warriors Breezes Past Knights in Home-Opener

BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 11, 2023) – The Webber International University men's lacrosse team played on its home-turf for the first time this season on Saturday afternoon in a matchup against fellow AAC opponent, St. Andrews University. The Warriors proved too much for the Knights in a 22-4 victory.
 
The Warriors (9-1 overall, 4-1 AAC) heavily out-shot the Knights (1-8, 1-4) 43-26 in total for the game and made the most of their extra-man opportunities, scoring 4-out-of-5.
 
It took just 30 seconds for the Warriors to open the scoring as Christian Tapia received a pass from Blake Nelson and netted goal number one. Webber continued its hot start as it scored the first six goals of the game, while holding St. Andrews scoreless for the first period.
 
The Knights scored their first goal at the beginning of quarter number two, however, they were still outscored 4-3 for the quarter. After holding a 10-3 lead at halftime, the Warriors went on to be even more dominant in the second half.
 
Webber allowed just one goal in the whole second half and outscored the Knights 5-0 in the third quarter and 7-1 in the fourth.
 
Chase Jackson led the Warriors in both assists with four and goals with seven, adding three goals as well. Nick Sheaffer tied his season-high of goals in a game with five while Jeremiah Loo and Houston Finlayson each tallied three. Nelson finished with a hat-trick of assists with three and netted a goal as well.
 
Hunter Scott finished 9-of-15 from the spot and led the team in ground balls with six. He was followed closely behind by Jordan Elam who ended with five ground balls. Sophomore Greyson Davidson led the team with a season-high two caused turnovers on the day.
 
The Warriors remain at home for their next two games where they will first host Point University on Friday, March 24th at 1 p.m. on the Warrior Turf Field.
