Rio Grande, OH – The Webber International Women's Basketball team matched up against the ninth-ranked Rio Grande Red Storm at the Bevo Francis Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Warriors were no match for the Red Storm, falling 107-62.
Jaiden Ross and Naveah Hillmon had the first seven points for Webber, with Ross hitting a layup and a three-pointer, while Hillmon got a layup to fall. Hillmon hit a three for the Warriors to end the first quarter with the Warriors down 28-10.
Kori Wimberly scored off of an assist from
Samantha Pacheco to start the second quarter.
Triniti Lee,
Alisha Walker, and Wimberly all scored on layups, with Ross and Pacheco grabbing points on jumpers as well.
Danshelle Mickel hit a three and
Corin Killian sank two free throws to end the first half with the score sitting at 47-27 in favor of the Red Storm
Ross scored the first four points for Webber in the second half.
Jasmine Henry got a layup to fall off the dime from Hillmon. Henry soon after got another layup to fall, before Hillmon sank two threes as the Warriors ended the third quarter down 81-42.
Walker and Pacheco each secured baskets at the start of the fourth quarter. Lee was sent to the free throw line and was able to make one of two before Henry scored off an assist from Wimberly. Hillmon and
Kelsei Robinson made three of four free throws, and shortly after Henry made a three. Ross was able to secure four more points off of free throws before Wimberly hit one more three at the end of the game to put the final score at 107-62.
Ross led the Warriors with 15 points, while also adding four rebounds and one assist. Hillmon had the second most points for Webber, grabbing 13 to go along with two rebounds and three assists.
The Warriors will be back in action on Thursday, November 30
th when they travel to DeLand to take on NCAA Division 1 foe Stetson University.
