Warriors Swept by Seahawks on the Road

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (September 25, 2022) - The Webber International University women's volleyball team traveled to Keiser University to battle the Seahawks in what was its second match in as many days on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors were defeated in their third conference match of the season, 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 29-27).

Despite being swept by the Seahawks (22-4 overall, 3-1 SUN), all three sets would prove to be very competitive. The Warriors (11-7, 1-2) hit .133 percent while Keiser hit only slightly higher at .139 percent.

In a back-and-forth first set, Webber trailed by just one at 16-15. The Seahawks would then go on a 5-1 run to extend their lead to five points before the Warriors scored three-straight to get back within two. Keiser held off the comeback attempt and took set number one.

The Warriors led 16-14 late in the second set. A 5-0 run from the Seahawks saw them take a three-point lead at 19-16. Webber would battle back yet again, getting within two, but Keiser would again stave off the comeback effort and take the set two victory, 25-23. In set number three, the Seahawks would take an early 6-2 lead and increase that lead by as many as six at one point. Down 12-7, the Warriors went on a 10-1 run to take a 17-13 advantage. Webber led 20-16 before a 6-0 run from the Seahawks saw them take a late lead. Momentum would swing in favor of the Warriors as they held advantage twice at 24-23 and 27-26. In the end, Keiser would score three-in-a-row to seal third set and the 3-0 sweep.

Offensively, Webber was led by Bailey Sikkema with 10 kills followed by Nadia Reid with six and Savannah Wilhite and Cintita Lorena each with four. Amanda Vega ended with a team-high 14 assists while Paysee Crow had 10. Wilhite would tally a career-high 11 total blocks for the match, followed by Sikkema with five total blocks. Bailey Berger led the Warriors with 12 total digs while Sikkema ended with seven.

Webber will now travel to South Florida to battle the Florida Memorial University Lions on Wednesday, September 28th at 7 p.m.
