WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 16, 2022) – Under the lights in West Palm Beach, Florida, the Webber International University's men's lacrosse team lost the lead in the final quarter against the No. 4 Keiser University Seahawks (8-4 overall, 3-2 AAC), resulting in a tight 9-8 loss on Friday night.
The Warriors (11-6 overall, 3-4 AAC) kicked off the first quarter with a goal from Alexander Kew moments into the match. However, this would be the only goal they would score until the second quarter. The Seahawks responded to Kew's goal scoring three back-to-back, ending the first quarter with a score of 3-1. Shortly into the second quarter Dave Becker would put one in the back of the cage for the Warriors and Daniel McClure would finish off the half by scoring, going into halftime with a score of 4-3. The Warriors kept the Seahawks to just one lone goal in the second quarter.
The third quarter would be back and forth for the Warriors and the Seahawks with goals from Becker and Houston Finlayson to even out the score with two back-to-back goals assisted by Blake Nelson. With the score at 6-6, the third quarter would end with another goal from both teams; 7-7. The final quarter of the match was looking promising as Finlayson would boost the Warriors ahead 8-7. However, the Seahawks would respond by netting two goals and holding off the Warriors to advance to the next round.
The Warriors offense was led by Finlayson with all three shots he took resulting in goals. Becker would trail behind with his two shots resulting in goals. Jordan Elam would lead in ground balls with four and Hunter Scott, Austin Schepers, and Harold Pallone III following with two. Pallone III would lead the Warriors in caused turnovers with three while Mark Valentino and Cade Bullard would finish with two apiece.
