BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 9, 2022) – The Webber International University baseball team hosted the Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech University on Wednesday. The Warriors continued their good form at the plate, driving in 16 runs to win their fourth game in-a-row.

The Warriors (24-4 overall) began the season receiving votes in the NAIA Pre-Season Poll and following a red-hot start to the season, have now jumped to No. 15 in the nation. There are now five teams from The Sun Conference in the Top-25.

Rey Rodriguez would earn his first win in what would be his first start of the season on the mound for Webber. He would give up just one run on one hit and earn four strikeouts in his five innings.
Casey Lawson would enter the game in relief in the sixth inning and pitch the final two innings. Lawson would shutout the Blue Devils (4-7) in his two innings pitched allowing no runs and no hits while striking out three.

Luis Acevedo would lead off the bottom of the first for the Warriors with a triple to right center field. Two batters later, he would score on an RBI-single down the right field line from Christian Martin for the first run of the game. Lawrence Tech would score its lone run of the game in the top half of the second on a sacrifice fly to left field. The next half inning, the Warriors would score twice on RBI-singles from
Bryan Eusebio and C. Martin. Two more runs would cross the plate in inning number three after
Richard Rodriguez would score on a wild pitch followed by
Tavion Williams stealing third base and subsequently taking home after an error from the third baseman.

The Warriors would really begin to bust the game open in the fourth inning, as after the Blue Devils would walk home two runs,
Kenny Rodriguez would fire a line-drive down the left field line for a bases-clearing double. Webber would hold a 10-1 lead heading into inning number five. The Warriors would continue to pile on the runs in the next inning as Eusebio would deliver a two-RBI double to left center field followed by a sacrifice fly from K. Rodriguez. A double to right center field from
Angel Diaz would score
Gabriel Dorsey and in the very next at-bat,
Tyren Milliner would deliver a two-RBI double to right field to make it a 16-1 lead for the Warriors.

Acevedo and A. Diaz led the team in hits with three each, both going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Acevedo, Eusebio, and T. Williams would all lead the team with three runs scored. K. Rodriguez would end the game 1-for-1 with a double and four RBI's followed by Eusebio who finished 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI's.

Next up, the Warriors will face No. 5 Georgia Gwinnett College in a three-game series that will begin on Friday, March 11, at 6 p.m. on Heart of Florida Field. The final two games of the series will be played in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 12, at 12 and 3 p.m.
