BABSON PARK, Fla. (April 3, 2021) – The nationally-recognized International University baseball team finished off the final two games of its Sun Conference series against Crooked Lake rival Warner University by splitting a doubleheader on Saturday. The Warriors won game one by the same score they won on Thursday, 4-2, but then lost the final game of the series by a score of 10-4.
With its fifth Sun Conference series win in six series so far this season, Webber's record moved to 24-16 overall and 12-6 in The Sun Conference while Warner's moved to 22-17 and 6-9. Additionally, the Warriors finished the year 3-3 against the rival Royals.
Down 2-1 in the first game on Saturday, Webber tied it with a two-out rally in the bottom of the sixth as
Dominique Collie Jr. double to right field and then scored on the ensuing single through the left side by
Bryan Eusebio.
Then after a groundball double play ended the top of the eighth inning, the Warriors scored twice in the bottom half to take the lead as
Norberto Navarro led off with a hit by pitch and then scored from second on a one-out single by
Steven Lugo, who then scored himself on an error by the right fielder.
In the top of the ninth,
Thomas Lopez Jr. (4-0) stranded two runners on bases with two strikeouts to end it.
Lopez Jr. pitched the final two innings allowing one hit, no runs and two walks while striking out three.
Bryce McDonald also did a great job as the starter, allowing eight hits, two runs and two walks while striking out five through the first seven innings of the game.
In the series finale, Webber finished with 11 hits and had four players finish with two hits, but left nine runners on base while Warner hit five home runs, including three by John Pichman.

The Warriors also had four doubles in the contest, two by Navarro and one by
Orlando Pena and Diaz.
"We did a good job winning the first two games again and taking the series," said Coach
Matt Saliba. "We've got to do a better job finishing out the third game of the series. There's a lot of work to be done starting Monday to get ready for a really good Georgia Gwinnett team."
Next up, Webber will hit the road for a three-game nonconference series at No. 7 nationally-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College. The Warriors and the Grizzlies will play first at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 9, and then will play a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 10.
