Women’s basketball to host FMU in TSC quarterfinals for second year in a row

BABSON PARK, Fla. (February 22, 2021) – After finishing up the 2020-21 regular season in third place in The Sun Conference women's basketball standings, the Webber International University women's basketball team will now host Florida Memorial University in The Sun Conference Tournament quarterfinals for the second year in a row. This time around, the Warriors and the Lady Lions will square off at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center.

The third-seeded Warriors finished the regular season 16-9 overall and 12-8 in The Sun Conference while sixth-seeded FMU was 10-10 and 10-9.

During the regular season, Webber defeated FMU twice, winning 86-83 in Miami Gardens, Florida, on December 5 before winning 68-55 at home on January 28. In all, the Warriors have a four-game winnings streak going against the Lady Lions after also beating FMU 74-70 in their TSC quarterfinal matchup inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center last season.

The Warriors will enter the postseason with three players averaging at least 12 points per game. Senior guard Paris Copeland leads the team at 12.9 points per game while fellow-senior Eletra Graham and junior Amaya Small both average 12 points per game. Next is junior Dasia Wandick and senior LeAndra Franklin at 9.4 and 9.3 points per game, respectively.

Franklin also leads the NAIA in total steals with 106, is second in steals per game at 4.2, and is sixth in total assists with 115. Additionally, sophomore Samantha Pacheco ranks 24th in the country in assist/turnover ratio (2.7) while Small is 36th in offensive rebounds per game (3.7) and is 44th in total rebounds (178).
