Warriors' comeback effort falls short in road loss to Keiser

BABSON PARK, Fla. (December 5, 2021) - The Webber International University women's basketball team traveled to Keiser University on Saturday afternoon for its second-straight Sun Conference matchup. The game was a low-scoring affair, in which the Warriors' comeback effort fell just short in a 53-50 defeat.

The Warriors (6-2 overall, 2-2 SUN) were heavily outrebounded in the game, 55-38, by the Seahawks (9-3, 3-3). However, Webber was able to force their opposition into 24 total turnovers.

Keiser held a 12-point lead at the end of the third quarter but the Warriors would start the fourth quarter on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit in half. The Seahawks would hold a seven-point lead with five and a half minutes left in the game. Webber would go on a 7-1 run over the next four minutes that included a three-pointer from Deja King and back-to-back layups from Dasia Wandick and Amaya Small, cutting Keiser's lead to just one at 51-50 with just under a minute to go. The Seahawks would convert two free throws to extend the lead to three with 23 seconds remaining. The Warriors would have  two chances from beyond the arch to force overtime but would be unable to convert.

King led the Warriors with 12 points, along with six rebounds, four steals, and three blocks. Rushell Jacob finished with 10 points and nine rebounds, one rebound shy of her second double-double of the season. Eletra Graham finished with 10 points as well, followed by Dasia Wandick with seven.

Defensively, King and LeAndra Franklin finished with a team-high four steals. Amaya Small racked up a career-high six blocks to go with her five rebounds.

Next up, The Warriors will travel to Jacksonville, Florida to face Division-I Jacksonville University in an exhibition game on Friday, December 10, at 11 a.m.
