BABSON PARK, Fla. (October 8, 2021) – The Webber International University women's volleyball team traveled to take on local Polk County rival, Southeastern University, this past Wednesday night resulting in a 3-1 (25-16, 25-20, 25-27, 25-22) loss for the Warriors.
Webber (9-10 overall, 0-6 SUN) remain winless in Sun Conference play thus far in the 2021 season. Five of their six defeats, however, have been on the road.
The Warriors were only able to capture a win in set number three over the Fire (14-9, 3-3), although three of the four sets were decided by only five points or less.
Sophomore
Kiersten Tisdale led the Warriors offensively with 13 kills while adding 10 digs on the defensive side. Tisdale earned her first double-double of the 2021 season as well as the first of her career. She was followed by
Bailey Sikkema with eight kills and
Savanna Wilhite with six.
Ana Clara Araujo led the team in terms of assists with 19, adding 23 digs to earn her third double-double this season.
Amanda Vega earned her sixth double-double of the year with 16 assists and 11 digs.
Kayce Kavanaugh led the Warriors defensively with 25 digs in the match. Wilhite gathered four blocks while Sikkema and
Teodora Ranitovic each added two.
Webber will have home-court advantage for its next four matches. Next up, the Warriors host their Crooked Lake rival, Warner University, on Saturday, October 9, at 6 p.m. It will be Homecoming Weekend for the Warriors as well as a Greenout Night inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center.
