BABSON PARK, Fla. (September 26, 2020) – The Webber International University men's soccer team took to its home field for the first time so far in 2020, and it was a great effort for the Warriors who unfortunately fell 2-0 against the No. 22-ranked team in the NAIA, Keiser University, on Saturday at the Warrior Grass Field.
Playing a high-powered Keiser offense that was outscoring its opponents 22-3 through three matches so far this season, the Warriors took a defensive approach to the match and battled to a scoreless tie at halftime.
Webber held the Seahawks to only three shots on goal through the first 45 minutes, but the Warriors were unable to capitalize on offense with only two total shots themselves, both coming from
David Negrin Ruiz.

Negrin Ruiz nearly put the Warriors ahead in the first half with a shot off the crossbar in only the ninth minute of the match.
In the end, Webber finished with only six total shots and only two shots on goal as
Andy Obregon added three attempts in the second half and
Jay Skelcher-Maxwell had the other Warrior attempt.
Webber's goalkeeper,
Alex Marciulonis, finished with a career-high seven saves in what was his fifth match so far as a Warrior.
After Obregon had a shot blocked three minutes into the second half, the winning goal for Keiser came in the 55th minute as Adrian Camacho Castro scored his fourth goal of the season on the cross from Alexander Steen, who then scored his fifth goal of the season in the 81st minute to make it 2-0.

Webber's Head Men's Soccer Coach
Neil Cockburn said, "The boys played extremely well today against the defending conference champions. We could have had a goal up in the first 10 minutes but hit the crossbar, and we had a few other opportunities that we could have finished, but I think that shows that we are progressing as a team. I feel we are getting stronger every game."
Webber fell to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in The Sun Conference while Keiser remained undefeated at 4-0 and 3-0 and reached its best start in program history.
Next up, Webber will remain at home for a second straight TSC matchup, but this time it will be on the Warrior Turf Field as the Warriors and the Gyrenes of Ave Maria University battle starting at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30. After that will be the Warriors' first of two meetings this season with Crooked Lake rival Warner University at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, in Lake Wales, Florida.
