Webber men’s basketball’s season ends during TSC quarterfinals at St. Thomas

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 25, 2020) – After qualifying for The Sun Conference Tournament for the first time since 2015-16, the 2019-20 season for the Webber International University men's basketball team came to an end in the TSC quarterfinals at St. Thomas University. In the end, the Warriors fell by a final score of 94-67 against the Bobcats on Tuesday night.

Webber was outscored 49-32 in the first half and allowed the Bobcats to shoot an incredible 65.52 percent (19-29) from the field overall and 50 percent (6-12) from three. Webber's only lead of the game was at 3-0 on a 3-pointer by Javonni Quince.

Then in the second half, St. Thomas added seven more 3-pointers to finish the game shooting 43.3 percent (13-30) from beyond the arc.

Additionally, the Bobcats shot 83.33 percent from the free throw line in both halves while Webber finished at only 53.8 percent (7-13) from the line.

The closest Webber got to St. Thomas in the second half was to within 14 points at 51-37 on a 3-pointer by Malik Morrow with 17:43 left to play, and then again at 56-42 on a layup by Quince with 14:37 on the clock.

The Warriors were outplayed in nearly every phase of the game as they were outscored 36-18 in points in the paint, 29-14 in points off turnovers, 17-6 in second chance points, 14-8 in fast break points and 34-11 in bench points.

Tommie Luke led the Warriors in scoring with 16 points and was followed by Quince and Morrow both with 14 points. Jaylon Myles added nine points and matched Morrow with three 3-pointers in the game.

Webber finishes its season 15-15 overall while St. Thomas improved to 21-5 and will advance to the TSC semifinals.

In addition to being .500 overall on the season, the Warriors finished the year 8-6 in home games but ended up below .500 on the road at 7-8.
