AVE MARIA, Fla. (November 7, 2020) – The Webber International University women's volleyball team played its final match of the 2020 regular season on Saturday, falling 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-23) at Ave Maria University, the second-place team in The Sun Conference.
Senior
Julia Ferraro finished with eight kills and two blocks to lead the Warriors while fellow-senior
Svenja Koenig added six kills and freshman
Nora Burgos-Heredia was next with five kills and a .500 attack percentage.
Amanda Vega dished out 14 assists and
Camryn Brown had nine assists, and
Gabriela Lopez led the squad in digs with six.
Webber allowed Ave Maria to hit over .200 percent in all three sets while failing to hit over .100 percent in any set themselves.
The second set was tied 17-17 before a 4-0 run for the Gyrenes, and then Webber never got any closer than to within three for the rest of the set.
In the final set, the Warriors trailed by scores of 17-12 and 21-16 before scoring four straight and getting back to within one at 21-20 on a kill by Ferraro, but Webber was never able to tie it.
Webber finished its regular season 4-10 overall and 2-9 in The Sun Conference while AMU improved to 12-3 and 9-3 with one match still remaining in its regular season.

Gretchen Hand spoke about the season for her Warriors, saying "We are thankful we were able to have a conference season. This season's challenges have tested our abilities in the classroom and on the court, but our student-athletes have been supportive of each other's needs, and are quick to help in a time of need. Than you to our Warrior family. We look forward to our postseason tournament. Sword up Warriors, we are in this together."
The annual TSC Women's Volleyball tournament is currently scheduled to begin on Friday, November 13 with the first round. No official announcement has been made yet on what seed the Warriors will have in the tournament, who they will play, or where they will travel to.
