WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (October 22, 2020) – For the second week in a row, the Webber International University men's soccer team will compete in The Sun Conference Men's Soccer Game of the Week as this time around, the Warriors will play on the road at No. 22 Keiser University.
The upcoming meeting between the Warriors and the Seahawks will be played at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, exactly 10 days after Webber defeated nationally-recognized Southeastern University 2-1 at home in what was the TSC Game of the Week last week. In the win, freshman
Jay Skelcher-Maxwell scored the first goal of the match in the 24th minute,
Dashaun Morris scored what would go on to be the winning goal in the 81st minute to put the Warriors ahead 2-0, and
Alex Marciulonis finished with five saves, including an incredible stop diving to his right to save the final shot attempt of the match by Southeastern with only five seconds remaining.
Webber's Head Men's Soccer Coach
Neil Cockburn said, "The boys are very excited about this game coming up. Even though Keiser is a great team, I feel that we will be very competitive against them. We are improving with every practice and game."
In the previous meeting between Webber and Keiser (6-0, 4-0) earlier this season on September 26, the Warriors' Home Opener in Babson Park, Florida, Webber held Keiser to without a goal until the 55th minute before falling 2-0.
Following the previous match against Keiser, Webber (4-5 overall, 3-4 TSC) climbed to fourth place in The Sun Conference standings with a three-match winning streak before falling 4-1 at home against nationally-recognized St. Thomas University. The Warriors were very competitive against the Bobcats and were tied 1-1 70 minutes in before surrendering three late goals in a 12-minute span.
The Seahawks, who are ranked third in the NAIA in goals scored with 32, have not played since October 7, a 3-2 win on the road over St. Thomas, and have only played two matches overall since their last meeting with the Warriors.
For Webber, Marciulonis currently ranks 19th in the NAIA in saves with 33 while senior
David Negrin Ruiz is 34th in goals scored with five.
