Men’s volleyball struggles against Knights in 2019 home opener

BABSON PARK, Fla. (February 22, 2019) – The 2019 home opener inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center for the Webber International University men's volleyball team ended in disappointment as the Warriors were simply no match for a strong St. Andrews University team, falling 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-20) to their sister-school on Friday night.

Webber struggled mightily in the opening set, hitting -.143 percent with only three kills, but stayed in it until the end thanks to 10 service errors and seven attack errors by St. Andrews.

Webber improved to hit .200 percent in the second set, but it was not nearly enough as the Knights hit .385 percent in the second set and .412 percent in the third.

There were not many highlights in this one for the Warriors, Kyle Robertson had 12 assists, Zachary Ayala had six kills, and Steven Bartlett had seven digs.

Webber fell to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the Mid-South Conference while St. Andrews improved to 8-4 and 5-0.

Next up for Webber is another tough rivalry match as the Warriors travel around Crooke Lake to take on Warner University at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27. The Royals are currently 3-2 both overall and in the Mid-South Conference.
