PENSACOLA, Fla. (November 14, 2019) – The Webber International University men's basketball team earned its second regular-season win in a row with an 88-65 victory over Pensacola Christian College on the night of Tuesday, November 12; and then during exhibition action on the night of Wednesday, November 13, the Warriors continued to roll with a big 76-62 win over NCAA Division-II the University of West Florida.

Next was Jaylon Myles with 15 points and four rebounds, Kevin Grace with a season-high 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting and 2-of-3 shooting from three, and Tommie Luke with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

Malik Morrow approached double-double territory with eight points and nine rebounds, which was a season-high in both categories for the senior, while Nicholas Toledo had five points and a season-high four assists, Chetachukwu Oliver had four points and seven rebounds, Joel Coffey had four points and five rebounds, Jonathan Philistin had five points, and Rasheem Etienne had a season-best six assists.

The Warriors led 43-25 at halftime against Pensacola Christian after shooting 47.06 percent (16-34) from the field and 46.15 percent (6-13) from 3-point range compared to 25.58 percent (11-43) shooting from the field and 18.75 percent (3-16) from three for the Eagles.

By the end of the game, Webber was still shooting over 42 percent from the field and 37 percent (10-27) from 3-point range while holding the Eagles to just above 30 percent from the field and 20 percent from three.

In the exhibition at West Florida, a team that only two years ago went to the NCAA Division-II National Tournament, Luke scored 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field and added three rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Corbin finished with 17 points and seven rebounds for the second game in a row and shot 50 percent from the field (5-10) while matching Luke with three steals.

Morrow finally recorded his double-double, albeit in exhibition action, with a performance of 10 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 4-of-7 from the field and being the lone Warrior to make two 3-pointers.

The fourth Warrior in double figures in scoring against West Florida was Myles with 10 points while Coffey added eight points and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field.

Webber led 36-24 at the half against West Florida after shooting over 44 percent from the field and holding the Argonauts to 33.33 percent shooting and a 2-of-12 (16.67 percent) mark from three. In the second half, the Warriors were even better offensively, shooting at a 50 percent (11-22) clip from the field to hold off the home team and pull off the upset.

After the Warriors led West Florida by 22 points at 61-39 with nine minutes left, the Argonauts rallied back to within eight points at 63-55 with just under six minutes left following a huge 16-2 run that featured four 3-pointers for West Florida from one guy, Daniel Sofield.

Fortunately for Webber, the Warriors shot 10-of-12 from the free throw line over the last five minutes to close it out.

In all, Webber finished the contest on a 12-6 run.

The Warriors were the beneficiaries of 17 turnovers by the Argonauts which resulted in 15 points off those turnovers for Webber.

"I was very happy with the team's effort this weekend," said Head Men's Basketball Coach Allen Corbin. "It is hard to go on the road and play back-to-back days. I feel like our guys have grown and learned from the previous trip. I was also pleased to see us share the ball more than we have in the past. We will be back to work and continue to improve daily."

Next up, Webber will now look to take advantage of its current momentum as the Warriors set their sights on their 2019-20 Sun Conference opener as the Warriors host the Seahawks of Keiser University at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center. The Warriors are currently 2-4 on the season while the Seahawks are 3-1.
