BABSON PARK, Fla. (October 23, 2019) – The Webber International University men's basketball team will enter its 2019-20 campaign with a revamped roster full of both returners and newcomers looking to bring mental toughness, a competitive spirit and a defensive edge to the squad.

In addition to NAIA All-American Honorable Mention and First-Team All-Sun Conference selection Tommie Luke, who averaged 22.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per game as a sophomore a year ago, other returning starters for the Warriors in 2019-20 include junior point guard Rasheem Etienne (9.3 ppg), senior forward Kevin Grace (9.3 ppg, 4.9 rpg) and senior guard Malik Morrow (8.5 ppg, 5.4 rpg).

Newcomers looking to make an impact on this year's roster include senior guard Ariel Watson from NCAA Division-II West Liberty University, junior guard Corey Corbin from Cecil College, junior center Joel Coffey from the State College of Florida and freshman guard Javonni Quince from William T. Dwyer High School.

Watson was previously an NJCAA All-American at Garrett College (Md.) before transferring to West Liberty. Corbin, meanwhile, was named MD JUCO Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore as well as being named second-team all-conference. Coffey is a 7-footer from New Zealand expected to be an immediate presence around the rim for the Warriors while Quince is a hard-nosed freshman who is expected to help raise the Warriors' level of defensive toughness and grit.

Last but not least, senior center Chetachukwu Oliver is prepared to play his first full season as a Warrior and make an impact in the paint after appearing in one game last season while dynamic junior guard Jaylon Myles is set to embark on his first season competing as a Warrior after redshirting the previous year.

The 2018-19 Warriors finished 13-17 overall and 4-14 in The Sun Conference as Webber will now look to finish above .500 for the first time under its third-year Head Coach, Allen Corbin. Webber was most recently picked ninth out of 10 teams in the 2019-20 Sun Conference Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll.

"I am very excited for this upcoming season," spoke Coach Corbin. "We have improved each of the two seasons that I have been here, and I hope we can continue the climb. I believe that we have some very talented returners who are learning what is expected of them as well as some dynamic new pieces to help us on both ends of the floor."

The Warriors will begin their new season with back-to-back games in Kansas on back-to-back days. Webber will first play against Sterling College (Kan.) at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time / 7 p.m. Central Standard Time on Friday, October 25, before battling Tabor College (Kan.) at 3 p.m. EST / 2 p.m. CST on Saturday, October 26.

Webber will then return to the state of Florida for the Florida College Tournament on Friday, November 1, against Cumberland University (Tenn.) and on Saturday, November 2, against host Florida College before playing in their home opener on Friday, November 8, at 7:30 p.m. against Trinity College (Fla.) inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center.

The Warriors' first Sun Conference game of 2019-20 will come at home against Keiser University at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 16.
