Women’s soccer beaten by D-I UNF

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (September 13, 2018) – For the third time this season, the Webber International University women's soccer team traveled to battle a tough NCAA opponent, and for the third time, the Warriors were defeated, this time by a score of 9-0 against NCAA Division-I the University of North Florida on Thursday night.

Webber (2-3) was held without a shot attempt while the Ospreys fired 39 shots, 21 of which were on goal.

Making her fifth start of the season in goal as a freshman was Summer Simpson, who finished with a career-high 10 saves.

With the win, UNF (5-3) improves its current winning streak to five consecutive matches, trying its program record as a Division-I school. The Ospreys have outscored their opponents 17-1 with four shutouts during the streak.

UNF now leads the all-time series between the Warriors and the Ospreys 3-0 after the Ospreys won the previous last meeting between the teams, 4-0, back during the 1999 season in Orange Park, Florida. Webber was also the opponent in North Florida's first home win in program history - an 8-0 decision on September 17, 1996.

Next up, Webber will finish off its current three-match road stretch with a matchup at NJCAA Daytona State College at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 15. The Warriors will then return home to Warrior Field to open up Sun Conference action against Florida Memorial University at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19.
