LAKE WALES, Fla. (September 13, 2018) – The undefeated Webber International University men's soccer team will travel to Lake Wales, Florida, on Saturday, September 15, to battle Crooked Lake rival Warner University. The match will take place at Royals Field with a kickoff time of 7 p.m.

Webber will enter the matchup on a two-match winning streak and an overall record of 4-0-1. Each of the Warriors wins have come by only one goal, most recently with wins over Middle Georgia State University, 3-2, in overtime, and Trinity Baptist College, 2-1, last week.

Also last week, goalkeeper Thomas Debladis was named The Sun Conference's Defensive Player of the Week after recording 13 saves against MGSU and 10 at TBC. He currently ranks second in the NAIA in saves per match (9.25) and is seventh in total saves (37).

Offensively, Webber is led by forward Baxter Smith, who has scored at least one goal in all four of the Warriors' matches this season, and will come into the Warner matchup with five total goals under his belt so far.

Additionally in the young season, Mateo Sassoni has added two goals and one assist, Ervin Ikanovic has one goal and two assists, and MacKinley Burns has one goal.

After a school record 5-0 start to its season, Warner is now 5-1 coming off of a heartbreaking double overtime loss to Point University. The Royals feature a high-powered offense has found the back of the net 16 times this season in just six matches. Warner is led by forwards Matheus Santiago (4 goals) and Daniel Rodriguez (3 goals).

Webber's Head Men's Soccer Coach Neil Cockburn said, "This could be one of the toughest Warner teams we will play since my 11 years at Webber. Warner Coach Drew Stacey has done a terrific job of rebuilding the program and is doing well this season, so it's not going to be easy to beat them. However, we are doing well ourselves, we have a fighting attitude and the boys are performing in practice and games. We have the talent and the passion to win the game."

In addition to this Saturday's nonconference meeting between the two teams, Webber and Warner will meet again in 2018 for a Sun Conference tilt in just two weeks on Saturday, September 29, at 10 a.m. on Webber's home field in Babson Park, Florida.
