Women’s volleyball sweeps Seahawks 3-0 in Sun Conference action

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (September 12, 2018) – The Webber International University women's volleyball team defeated Keiser University 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-21) for its first road and second overall win in The Sun Conference to improve to 8-3 overall and 2-0 in TSC play.

After winning a back-and-forth battle with very few runs in the first set, the Warriors found themselves trailing 22-21 in the second set before going on a four-point run to take the set and 2-0 lead.

In the third and final set, Webber used a five-point run to take a 21-14 lead that ultimately was too much for Keiser to come back from.

Keiser fell to 6-7 overall and 0-2 in TSC action.

Statistical leaders for Webber were Brittany Taksas with 10 kills and seven blocks, Svenja Koenig with a career-high eight kills and an incredible .727 attack percentage, Emily Bowen with six kills and three blocks, Salla Rautiainen with a career-high six kills, Valerie Vargas with 22 assists and two service aces, Gilmary Ramos with 13 assists and six digs, Nayrelis Pantoja Santos with 10 digs and Hannah Tannone nine digs and two aces.

"It was an amazing first TSC road win for us," said Head Coach Lindsey Martin. "I am incredibly proud of our focus and determination while playing the most competitive Keiser team we have ever seen in front of a roaring crowd. Even when the match was tight, our team looked to each other to gain confidence and keep their cool. Now, we will rest up and turn our focus to Ave Maria tomorrow night."

Next up, the Warriors will head to the Ave Maria, Florida, to face off against Ave Maria University on Thursday, September 13, at 6 p.m.
