LAKELAND, Fla. (March 15, 2018) – For the second consecutive dual match in less than a week, the Webber International University men's golf team came out on top against an NCAA Division-III opponent and had its top finisher earn co-medalist honors. This time around, it was freshman
Augusto Charaf who led the Warriors in a 305-347 dual meet victory over North Park University on Tuesday, March 13.
Charaf's one-over-par score of 73 at the par-72, 7,030-yard course at the Club at Eaglebrooke in Lakeland, Florida, his best round of his collegiate career so far, gave him a share of the individual win along with North Park's Tim Strandell.
Alberto Uriach tied for second on the Warriors for the second straight match, equaling last week's top finisher for Webber,
Jack Ewbank, as both shot a 76 to tie for third overall.
It was the second top-three finish in a dual meet with rounds of 76 or lower for the second time in a row for Uriach (75 last week vs. Shenandoah University on Thursday, Mar. 8), Ewbank (74 last week) and Charaf (75 last week).
Webber's next two scores, both in the 70's, came from players shooting as individuals as
Alberto Pinazo placed in fifth with a score of 78 and
George Daniels was sixth with a score of 79.
Next,
Andrew Iverson finished with a score of 80 and landed in seventh place to contribute to Webber's top five, as did
Noah Doucette, who was 10th overall with a score of 86.
Two others playing as individuals were
Max Bowmer-Adey (82) and
Ranko Helc (85), who finished in eighth and ninth place, respectively, giving the Warriors nine of the top 10 finishes.
Statistically speaking, Daniels tied for the lead among all players with four birdies while Ewbank and Iverson finished with 13 and 12 pars, respectively, to lead all players.
Next up for Webber men's golf will be the 47th Intercollegiate Golf Championship, which will be held from Friday, March 23, to Sunday, March 25, at Paradise Point Golf Course in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Then, once the regular season is finished for the Warriors, they will head to The Sun Conference Championship, held from Sunday, April 22, to Tuesday, April 24.
