Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Warriors complete season sweep of Brewton-Parker

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. (March 14, 2018) – The Webber International University men's volleyball team used a great opening set to grab all of the momentum and cruise to a decisive 3-0 (25-8, 25-11, 25-18) road win over Brewton-Parker College on Wednesday night.

The Warriors saw Tim Rouch Jr. record seven service aces while Steven Bartlett added 10 digs and Cesar Remedios and Justin Beecher each came up with 10 blocks.

Rouch Jr. also added eight assists and four digs to match Beecher in assists and Liam Gilchrist in the digs column. Lastly, Gilchrist added four kills to match Jack Chernak, who also came up with four blocks.

The win, Webber's second of the season over Brewton Parker after sweeping the Barons in their season opener back on February 2, not only advanced the Warriors' record to 4-12 on the season, but wrapped up a six-match road trip, featuring stops in Kentucky, Ohio and Georgia, that lasted nearly a week.

In all, the Warriors will return home with two more wins under their belt and a hard fought five-set loss to Lawrence Tech, the Warriors' third five-set defeat so far.

Head Coach William McPhee said, "Trips like this can mean a lot for a group of men in their first year. Fortunately for us, this trip was a success, collecting two wins, challenging our opponents even in our losses, and building chemistry which will help us grow as the regular season comes to an end. We will get back to work next week in preparation for our last games and the conference tournament."

The rest of the regular season will see the Warriors host rival Warner University at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, before two Southeast Athletic Conference matches against Bluefield College and St. Andrews University on Saturday, March 31, in Laurinburg, North Carolina.

Webber and Warner will then meet up for an exhibition matchup on Monday, April 2, in Lake Wales, Florida, before the start of the first and only SAC Tournament on Thursday, April 5, on the campus of Campbellsville University.
