KANSAS CITY, Mo. (October 30, 2018) – A guaranteed share of The Sun Conference Regular-Season Championship and a league-best 22-4 overall record and 14-1 Sun Conference mark has the Webber International University women's volleyball team on the national radar as the Warriors received votes in the latest NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The updated poll was released by the NAIA on Tuesday evening.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Association of Independent Institutions and Unaffiliated Groups. The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
Webber received eight votes in the latest version of the poll, and was the only team from The Sun Conference to be recognized.
Overall, the Warriors are a well-balanced team, ranking ninth in the NAIA in digs per set (19.140), 40th in assists per set (11.770) and 45th in kills per set (12.650).
Individually, junior libero
Nayrelis Pantoja Santos ranks 12th in digs per match at 5.950, and senior outside hitter
Virginia Salanoa-Sagapolu ranks 47th in kills per set at 3.480.
Webber will wrap up its regular season on Halloween night, Wednesday, October 31, at the College of Coastal Georgia at 7 p.m. as a win would make the Warriors the outright Sun Conference Regular-Season Champions.
The next regular-season poll will be announced November 12.
