WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (October 27, 2018) – The 2018 Webber International University women's soccer season came to an end on Saturday in West Palm Beach, Florida, as the Warriors fell to No. 6 Keiser University 7-0.
The Warriors finished their first season under Head Coach
Brian Fallon with an overall record of 4-11-1, and a Sun Conference mark of 2-7-1. Keiser improved to 15-2-1 and 9-0-1 and finished as the co-champions of The Sun Conference. It was Keiser's 13th straight and 14th overall Sun Conference Regular-Season Championship.
Slow starts in the first half and at the beginning of matches were the downfall of the Warriors all season long.
"This year's team was very young, and we have a lot to learn," said Fallon. "However, I firmly believe after the spring practice, we will be better prepared to bring results. We need to be more prepared to execute in the first half. That will make a huge difference."
In the first half on Saturday, Webber was outscored 5-0 and was outshot 22-3.
Goalkeeper
Alyssa Rodriguez finished with 15 saves while Webber's four shots came from
Megan Warner,
Leah Borders,
Charlee Lutton and
Daiana Casula.
It was the second shot attempt of the season for Lutton, a freshman from Lake Wales, Florida, and was the first for Casula, a junior from Miami, Florida.
Overall on the season, Warner led the Warriors in shots (49), shots on goal (27), goals (7) and points (16). Borders was second in shots with 32 and was one of four Warriors with three or more goals on the season, joining freshman
Sidney Usina with three while senior
Luiza Oliveira had six.
