BABSON PARK, Fla. (September 27, 2017) – In its best start to a season in a least the last decade, the Webber International University women's soccer lost for the first time during its 2017 campaign as the Warriors fell to No. 14 Southeastern University by a score of 4-1 on Wednesday at Warrior Field.
Sophomore
Francesca Mascali netted the lone goal of the match for Webber (4-1 overall, 2-1 The Sun Conference) with less than 10 minutes remaining to cut the Warriors' deficit in half at 2-1, but Southeastern (7-0, 2-0) would answer with two more goals to put the match away. The Fire remiain the lone team in The Sun Conference without a loss or a tie on the season. Southeastern's Uchenna Kanu scored twice against the Warriors, and now has 14 goals in only seven matches so far this season.
Mascali finished with two shots to lead the Warriors, while
Madison Pike had the Warriors only other shot of the day, and
Sarah McKinney made a new career-high seven saves.
Next up, Webber will travel to Johnson & Wales University for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, September 30, before returning home for three consecutive matches to begin the month of October.
