ATLANTA, Ga. (November 8, 2017) – The Webber International University women's basketball team traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, and defeated Carver College 86-70 on Wednesday night to earn its first win of the 2017-18 season.
Leading the way for Webber (1-1) was a trio of scorers in double digits as
Ashley Perry had 19 points,
RayGene Garner had 18 and
Montrese Weller had 17 on five 3-pointers.
After leading by four points after one quarter (23-19), the Warriors defense held the Cougars to only 12 points in the second quarter to take a 14-point lead into halftime at 45-31.

Grady Morrell said, "I am very proud of our effort tonight. I thought our girls played well after driving seven hours and then getting off the bus. We were a little sloppy, but we still won by 16 points."
The Warriors nearly doubled their scoring total from the season opener on Monday, November 6, against Edward Waters College as the 86 points on Wednesday were the most scored by Webber since November 15 of 2016 when the Warriors defeated Trinity College 89-71.
After Wednesday night's game in Atlanta, Georgia, Webber will continue its current four-game road stretch with a trip up even further north to Kentucky. The Warriors will battle Lindsey Wilson College on Friday, November 10, at 6 p.m., and will then take on the University of the Cumberlands at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 11.
