SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Webber International University Warriors took on the Williams Baptist Eagles today in a win all or go home situation. Unfortunately for the Warriors they will be heading home after a 4-10 loss.
The Eagles jumped out to a 1-5 lead after the first two innings. The run for Webber came hot off the bat of
Alyssa Householder to lead off the bottom of the 1st as she smacked a solo shot to lead off the game.
It was quiet until the bottom of the fourth inning when
Megan Isoba connected for a 3-run shot that headed out over the left field fence. The homerun brought the game to within one run as the Warriors trailed 4-5.
The top of the 6th inning spelled disaster for the Warriors as they saw their World Series slip further and further out of reach. The Eagles put up 5 runs off of 3 hits that were 2 doubles and 1 homerun, sealing the deal for Webber as they were eliminated from the World Series.
The 2016 Warrior softball team may have been labeled as an underdog for the entire season/post season, but they sure took the challenge and ran with it. They came on strong defeating several nationally ranked opponents including conference foe Southeastern who is still alive in the World Series.
It's been a fantastic season, thank you seniors, coaches and teammates. Sun Conference Coach of the Year, Player of the Year, Sun Conference Tournament Champions, Reinhardt Bracket Opening Round World Series Champions, 1-2 in World Series play. Thank you Warrior softball for a phenomenal year! Go Warriors!!!
