Men’s Basketball Powers Past Johnson & Wales, 95-83

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Webber International University men's basketball traveled south, Wednesday, to take on Johnson & Wales. The Warriors dominated from the tip off to the final whistle, taking down the Wildcats, 95-83.

The reigning Sun Conference Player of the Week, Dewaine Lyals continues to dominate any and all opposition, posting 26 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. Ronzell Evans registered a double-double, with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Resident super sub Derian Fraga, netted 15 points, with Sam Auguste and Daniel Coffey adding 13 and 12, respectively.

The Warriors fell behind early, with the Wildcats jumping ahead, 7-0, after just two minutes of action. Johnson & Wales would hold the lead for most of the first half, going up by as much as seven.

After 10 minutes of hard work, Webber International tied the game up at 24-24. The Warriors would close out the first half outscoring the Wildcats 21-9, taking a big, 48-38, advantage into half time.

Webber International played well to start the second half, but Johnson & Wales was also strong retaking the lead with 13 minutes to play. The Warriors and Wildcats would trade basket till Webber International ripped off an 8-0 run to push ahead, 79-67, with five minutes left in the game.

The Warriors would hold a double-digit lead the rest of the game, seeing its advantage reach as high as 15. When the final whistle blew, the Warriors had defeated Johnson & Wales, 95-83.
