Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Webber International University women's basketball faced off against Florida Memorial, Saturday, in a Sun Conference road game. The Warriors defense was stifling, leading Webber International to a 66-57 win over the Lions.
Deslyn Applewhaite and Quanthavia Stalworth again powered the Warriors offense, scoring 17 and 16 points, respectively. The two were also fantastic from the free throw line, with Applewhaite going 7-7, while Stalworth was 8-10.
Webber International played fantastic team defense against the Lions. The Warriors would limit Florida Memorial to single-digit scoring in two quarters and forced the Lions to commit 28 turnovers.
The Warriors dominated the first quarter, taking a commanding, 22-8, lead. Florida Memorial would score the first basket of the game, but Webber International's defense would limit them to only one basket from the field for the rest of the quarter.
The Lions pushed back in the second quarter, but Webber Internationa'ls offense would help main the health advantage. Even though the Warriors were outscored in the second quarter, they would lead by as many as 16 points. After 20 minutes of action Webber International was comfortably ahead, 25-22.
Webber International's defense dominated the third quarter, limiting Florida Memorial to eight points for a second time. The Warriors would push their advantage as high as 23 and would go into the final quarter up, 51-30.
Florida Memorial would again try and mount a comeback, scoring 27 points in the third quarter, but it would not be enough with the Warriors winning out, 66-57.
