Men’s Basketball Drops Road Match Against St. Thomas

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Webber International University men's basketball was in Miami, Thursday, for a Sun Conference matchup against St. Thomas University. A late comeback by the Warriors fell short, with the Bobcats winning out, 75-65.

Dewaine Lyals had a big game, netting a game-high 23 points. Joelle Bigham also broke the double-digit mark with 11 points in 20 minutes of action. Ronzell Evans continues to make an impact on the boards, grabbing a team-best eight rebounds.

Early struggles would see, the Warriors fall behind, 13-0. A Daniel Coffey layup would kick start the Webber International offense. After ten minutes Webber International was down, 19-9.

The Warriors and St. Thomas would trade baskets the rest of the half, with Webber International going into half time down by just seven, 33-26.

The Warriors continued to chip away at the Bobcat lead in the secod half, cutting it as low as four points. Down 63-53, Webber International went on an 8-2 run to bring its deficit back to single digits.

With 25 second left, Webber International was down by just five, but strong free-throw shooting by the Bobcats cut the Warrior comeback short. Webber International would eventually fall to St. Thomas, 75-65.
